Page-a-Day Math really is needed just a page a day!  Kory (4) enjoyed learning Math and so much more with these workbooks in the Pre-K Math Starter Kit.  It has been fun so far learning math facts so Kory can build a strong math foundation.

We are starting our homeschool journey with beginning Kindergarten in the fall.  One of the features of curriculum/lessons that we will be doing is that it must be "open-and-go."  Maybe someday when I'm super confident in my teaching abilities, I won't have to have so much hand-holding ;)  For now, I need it all right there, ready to go.

Inside the Pre-K Math Starter Kit (digital) we received:
1. Tracing Addition Equations That Add 1 To 0-10 Workbook
2. Tracing Addition Equations That Add 2 To 0-10 Workbook
3. Tracing Addition Eq…

Reading Kingdom is Reading Fun!

My daughter, Kory (4), really enjoyed her reading lessons with Reading Kingdom's online program.

To begin, your child will have to go through an assessment to see where they need to start in the program.  Kory was started on Level 1.  It can be a little difficult for the child to get through, but you can be there to encourage the child during the assessment.  After that assessment and the following lessons, the child shouldn't need much more assistance.  In fact, the program encourages you to let the child "fly" on their own and not provide too much guidance.

At first, Kory had some trouble navigating the keyboard.  It was a bit frustrating for her at first since she was not familiar with a mouse and keyboard, but after the first few lessons she got the hang of it …

My 4 year old is learning to read and write with Reading Unlocked!

We were provided with 12 months free access to Reading Unlocked to try in our homeschool routine.  It is an online program that can be used on an iPad, PC, or laptop.  We used our iPad.

The program begins each lesson with a letter, and then asks the student what sound it makes.  Next, the child will identify in a series of questions which picture starts with the letter sound of the day.  The program does say the word for the student.  Then there is a short drill of saying the letter and what sound it makes. Kory then drew the letter on her paper or dry erase board.  This is how this program differs from another book-based learn-to-read program we had been using; the student is asked to write the letter (and eventuall…

Preborn Prodigy Makes the Perfect Gift!

We had a great opportunity to listen to all 3 CDs we received from Preborn Prodigy.

1. Prayers & Blessings for the Unborn Child
2. Prayers & Blessings Newborn to 99
3. Math Prodigy

Prayers and Blessings for the Unborn Child is perfect for expecting Moms!  This is the perfect baby shower gift.  This can be listened to on a phone or stereo for Mom and baby to hear, or played through Belly Buds (or similar fetal audio system).  The pleasant female voice speaks truths and blessings set to music, reminding anyone who hears that they were fearfully and wonderfully made!  I am a advocate for having music played for baby in the womb, but I believe playing Prayers and Blessings for the Unborn Child would be a great gift for Mom to supplement baby's audio selection ;)  Therefore, t…

We were blessed to be able to review The Easter Storybook by David C Cook!

The Easter Storybook is a wonderful addition to any homeschool Bible study, family devotional time, or morning basket.  Of course, it would be best used in the 40 days leading up to Easter, but I believe it would be a good resource any time of year!

I read this book with my 4 year old PreK daughter, Kory.  First, the introduction from the Author was heart-warming and provided me with a little devotional even to myself before I read this book with my child.  Laura Richie, the author, refers to Jesus as a "Rescuer" in the introduction and throughout the book.  That always keeps Jesus in perspective.  He is a Rescuer; we can't do life on our own.

Each story is told in a way that is easy for a child t…

We loved learning all about Knights from the Home School in the WoodsK-2 Lap-Pack.

As mentioned in my previous blog, we went to our local medieval event center recently.  Kory (4) enjoyed this tremendously!  How fun it was to follow up on that experience by learning all about Knights.

Home School in the Woods has many, many, different products to choose from.  A lot of their learning materials are geared for 3rd grade and up, but these Lap-Paks are suggested for grades K through 2nd.  I LOVE the idea of Lapbooks.  I'm looking forward to utilizing them more on our homeschool journey.

We received a digital download of the Home School in the Woods Knights K-2 Lap-Pak.  I set to work printing it out. I put the Lap-Pak together with a bit of help from Kory.

The illustrations in this …

We have loved selections from author Carole P. Roman!

Recently, we took Kory (4) to our local medieval dinner and tournament event center.  She loved watching the falcon fly overhead, the dancing horses, the Knights jousting, and being allowed to eat her food with her hands.

Soon after that, we were contacted to try out Carole P. Roman's assorted series and it was right on time!  Included in the set we received was a book about living in Medieval times; "If You Were Me and Lived in the Middle Ages."

Kory enjoyed learning what it would be like to be a pre-teen girl living in 1072 A.D.  It made us very thankful for the blessings we have today. Now we have a bit of history in our memory for the next time we go to a Knight jousting event! ;)

We also read "If You Were M…
