ARTistic Pursuits Is The Perfect Art Curriculum!

We have found our Art Study for the fall!!  We will be using an excellent book from ARTistic Pursuits called The Way They SEE It, A Book for Every Parent About the Art Children Make.  I am so thankful we did this review!

There are 26 Projects within the book.  There are also "Grown-Up Talk" pages that are for parents to also learn and understand about young children's art.

What I love most about this particular book, is that it makes art very simple for little kids and parents who (like me) aren't very versed in Art.  In the book, this is called "Picture Talk."  I have loved the idea of introducing Kory to art study, but felt like it was just a bit much for her at her age (4).  This book encourages me to start art study with her and build a foundation that we can build on in the future to study deeper as she gets older.

On the "Picture Talk" pages, there is a photo of an art piece with a brief background description and questions to ask the child.  I like that it is all thought out for me.

Two of the projects we did were the Impressions Project and the The Sky I See Project.  Both of them were super fun and Kory LOVED them.  She loves being creative.

There are also FREE video art lessons available on the ARTistic Pursuits Blog.  These are very well produced videos just for kids.  These 16 week lessons will be available every summer.

Also on that site are online courses for the K-3 level books.  These courses include a 64 page flip book with 12 art appreciation lessons and 6 video courses.  If your child seems to develop a deep love for art, these courses will be worth it!
