We have loved selections from author Carole P. Roman!
Recently, we took Kory (4) to our local medieval dinner and tournament event center. She loved watching the falcon fly overhead, the dancing horses, the Knights jousting, and being allowed to eat her food with her hands.
Soon after that, we were contacted to try out Carole P. Roman's assorted series and it was right on time! Included in the set we received was a book about living in Medieval times; "If You Were Me and Lived in the Middle Ages."
Kory enjoyed learning what it would be like to be a pre-teen girl living in 1072 A.D. It made us very thankful for the blessings we have today. Now we have a bit of history in our memory for the next time we go to a Knight jousting event! ;)
We also read "If You Were Me and Lived on Mars" at bedtimes.
I also really enjoyed this book! How fascinating it would be to live on Mars! We would have to watch out for the dust storms! Apparently, temperatures change drastically and without warning on Mars, which is interesting because Texas is the same way!! ;) ;)
The illustrations in this book are also my favorite.
I think the books that Kory loved the most were 2 selections from the Captain No Beard series. We read "Captain No Beard: An Imaginary Tale of a Pirate's Life" (Volume 1) and "Pepper Parrot's Problem with Patience" (Volume 2) for our morning reading time.
There's a twist at the end of these stories!! Which was very timely because Kory and I have been talking about using our imagination, so this tied the story and real life all together.
Be sure to check out all the wonderful books by Carole P. Roman. There are sure to be stories of history and fun for all ages of children to add to your home library!
