Learning to Read and Write with Reading Unlocked!

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. My 4 year old is learning to read and write with Reading Unlocked ! We were provided with 12 months free access to Reading Unlocked to try in our homeschool routine.  It is an online program that can be used on an iPad, PC, or laptop.  We used our iPad. As you can see, the program is very simple and not cluttered with too much stimulation. The program begins each lesson with a letter, and then asks the student what sound it makes.  Next, the child will identify in a series of questions which picture starts with the letter sound of the day.  The program does say the word for the student.  Then there is a short drill of saying the letter and what sound it makes. Kory then drew the letter on her paper or dry erase board.  This is how this...

Preborn Prodigy Makes the Perfect Gift!

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. We had a great opportunity to listen to all 3 CDs we received from Preborn Prodigy . 1. Prayers & Blessings for the Unborn Child 2. Prayers & Blessings Newborn to 99 3. Math Prodigy Prayers and Blessings for the Unborn Child is perfect for expecting Moms!  This is the perfect baby shower gift.  This can be listened to on a phone or stereo for Mom and baby to hear, or played through Belly Buds (or similar fetal audio system).  The pleasant female voice speaks truths and blessings set to music, reminding anyone who hears that they were fearfully and wonderfully made!  I am a advocate for having music played for baby in the womb, but I believe playing Prayers and Blessings for the Unborn Child would be a great gift for Mom to supplement baby's aud...

We're Ready for Easter with The Easter Storybook!

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. We were blessed to be able to review The Easter Storybook by  David C Cook ! The Easter Storybook is a wonderful addition to any homeschool Bible study, family devotional time, or morning basket.  Of course, it would be best used in the 40 days leading up to Easter, but I believe it would be a good resource any time of year! I read this book with my 4 year old PreK daughter, Kory.  First, the introduction from the Author was heart-warming and provided me with a little devotional even to myself before I read this book with my child.  Laura Richie, the author, refers to Jesus as a "Rescuer" in the introduction and throughout the book.  That always keeps Jesus in perspective.  He is a Rescuer; we can't do life on our own. Each story is told i...

We Love the Knight Life ;)

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. We loved learning all about Knights from the Home School in the Woods K-2 Lap-Pack . As mentioned in my previous blog, we went to our local medieval event center recently.  Kory (4) enjoyed this tremendously!  How fun it was to follow up on that experience by learning all about Knights. Home School in the Woods has many, many, different products to choose from.  A lot of their learning materials are geared for 3rd grade and up, but these Lap-Paks are suggested for grades K through 2nd.  I LOVE the idea of Lapbooks.  I'm looking forward to utilizing them more on our homeschool journey. We received a digital download of the Home School in the Woods Knights K-2 Lap-Pak .  I set to work printing it out. I put the Lap-Pak together with a bit o...

Learning is Fun with Carole P. Roman!

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. We have loved selections from author  Carole P. Roman ! Recently, we took Kory (4) to our local medieval dinner and tournament event center.  She loved watching the falcon fly overhead, the dancing horses, the Knights jousting, and being allowed to eat her food with her hands. Soon after that, we were contacted to try out Carole P. Roman's assorted series and it was right on time!  Included in the set we received was a book about living in Medieval times; "If You Were Me and Lived in the Middle Ages." Kory enjoyed learning what it would be like to be a pre-teen girl living in 1072 A.D.  It made us very thankful for the blessings we have today. Now we have a bit of history in our memory for the next time we go to a Knight jousting event! ;) We...

We Love SchoolhouseTeachers.com For Our NEW Homeschool Adventure!

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. My daughter and I have enjoyed learning with the Ultimate PreK-12 Annual Membership at  SchoolhouseTeachers.com . We are just beginning our homeschool journey.  Kory is 4 years old and is currently in Pre-K 2 days per week, so she has been learning many concepts there as well as at home.  I found that after I checked the Scope and Sequence on SchoolhouseTeachers.com for Kindergarten level, she has mastered several skills listed.  The Scope and Sequence is very helpful for finding out where your child is academically and to choose the best fit from resources on SchoolhouseTeachers.com. For this review, we tried All About Maps in the Kindergarten Geography lesson plan menu. All About Maps cover page at SchoolhouseTeachers.com Drawing a Map...

3 Formula-Feeding "Must-Haves"

Image
*This post contains affiliate links. I hope this post doesn't stir up something!  But I know there are other Fearless Formula Feeders out there who may be looking for some insight and encouragement. I am pro-choice when it comes to breastfeeding.  My story of a failed breastfeeding journey is a long one I'll save for another post. So, we had to formula feed very early in K's life. The first formula we ever tried was Gerber Good Start.  It worked well.  Then we switched to Gerber Good Start Soothe, since she had become a little colicky... and then VERY colicky. Then, after we discovered she had acid reflux and a milk allergy, we switched her to Enfamil Nutramigen .  This stuff is $36 per can!!  But that is what she needed and the Lord did provide... coupons from Enfamil and $10 Target gift cards every time we bought 3 cans :) But the one thing that was the most profound and life-changing that was gifted to us was the Baby Breeza formula maker! ...
